[Music] Omah Lay – Damn

“Damn” is the opening track on Omah Lay’s debut EP, Get Layd. Released in 2020, the song immediately sets the tone for the project with the kind of smooth, introspective energy that would become central to Omah Lay’s sound. It is short, melodic, and emotionally direct, which makes it a strong introduction to the EP’s overall mood.

The track stands out because it captures Omah Lay’s early signature so well: calm delivery, soulful production, and a laid-back but self-assured presence. Rather than coming in aggressively, he eases the listener into his world. That restraint is part of what made the song effective. It feels confident without being loud, and personal without becoming overly dramatic.

Critics and listeners at the time often read “Damn” as a statement of arrival. It was one of the songs that helped establish Omah Lay as a fresh voice in Nigerian music, especially for listeners drawn to more emotionally layered Afrobeats and Afro-soul. The song’s appeal lies in how effortlessly it blends mood and melody, giving the EP a memorable opening.
