David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Although he was born in the United States, he was raised in Lagos, Nigeria, where his passion for music began to take shape. He first stepped into the music scene as a member of the group KB International before eventually pursuing a solo career.



Davido attended Oakwood University, where he studied business administration. However, he later dropped out to fully focus on music, a decision that marked the beginning of his rise to fame. He started by making beats and recording vocal references, gradually building the sound that would later make him one of Africa’s biggest music stars.



His breakthrough came in 2012 with the release of “Dami Duro,” the second single from his debut studio album, Omo Baba Olowo. The album also produced several other singles, including “Back When,” “Ekuro,” “Overseas,” “All of You,” “Gbon Gbon,” and “Feel Alright.” The success of the project helped establish him as a major force in the Nigerian music industry.



That same year, Davido won the Next Rated award at The Headies, further cementing his status as one of the most promising young talents in African music. Between 2013 and 2015, he continued to deliver hit songs such as “Gobe,” “One of a Kind,” “Skelewu,” “Aye,” “Tchelete (Goodlife),” “Naughty,” “Owo Ni Koko,” “The Sound,” and “The Money.” These releases strengthened his reputation and expanded his fan base across Africa and beyond.
